Fargo, ND-----Adrian Martinez (Pictured) doubled with two-out in the ninth inning to drive home Bryan Pounds with the winning run as the Explorers rallied for a 4-3 win over Fargo-Moorhead here on Monday.
The Explorers trailing 3-1 going into the ninth inning scored three runs on five hits to secure the win for Jon Pfleka, his first win of the season. Dan Jurik started for the Explorers and had a no-decision although he had a season high nine strikeouts.
Peter Barrows started the rally with a one-out double and then Luke Murton singled him home to cut the Red Hawks lead to 3-2. Pounds singled and Gibby Briones pinch running for Murton went to third and then scored on a sacrifice fly by Yuske Inoguchi to tie the game at 3-3. Sam Judah then singled and with two outs Martinez doubled to drive hom Pounds as the Explorers won 4-3. The three runs in the ninth came off Fargo-Moorhead closer Chase Johnson who suffered his first loss of the season.
Chris Bodishbaugh pitched the ninth for the Explorers and picked up his 12th save of the season, his second in as many games. Last night in the ninth, Bodishbaugh threw only nine pitched to retire the Red Hawks in order.
The final game of the four-game series will be played Tuesday at Newman Outdoor Field with game time set for 7:05pm.
