SIOUX CITY, IA – SIOUX CITY, IA – The Sioux City Explorers announced today that the San Francisco Giants have purchased the contract of outfielder Tyler Graham. Graham was acquired by the X’s this past October after being claimed off waivers from the Winnipeg Goldeyes. The X’s will retain Graham’s reversionary rights.
Graham was originally drafted by the Giants in the 19th round of the 2006 amateur draft out of Oregon State University. Graham spent seven years in the Giants organization (2006 – 2012), while also spending part of the 2012 season in the Arizona Diamondbacks organization, where he made his MLB debut on September 7th 2012.
Graham spent the 2013 season with three different Independent organizations (York – Atlantic league, and the Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks and Winnipeg Goldeyes of the American Assoociation) while also spending a short time in Mexico. In 59 games with the Winnipeg Goldeyes, Graham accumulated a .303 batting average while collecting 76 hits to go along with 31 stolen bases and carrying a .352 on base percentage.
“We are happy for Tyler knowing that he is going to get another opportunity with a major league organization and we will welcome him back in the event things do not work out with the Giants,” comments field manager Steve Montgomery.
