Sioux City scored their first run in the first inning. Michael Lang led-off with a single, moved to second on a sacrifice, and scored off an RBI single by Nate Sampson.
Explorers added another in the fourth inning. X’s left-fielder LeVon Washington led off the with a solo-homer to extend the lead 2-0 after four innings.
Sioux City never looked back, plating another run in the eighth, and four big runs in the ninth to give them seven total runs.
X’s starter Mark Vasquez (0-1) finished with a no decision, pitching 4.1 scoreless innings. Right-hander Brad Orosey (2-0) received the victory going 2.2 innings with no runs allowed and four strikeouts.
Railcats lefty Alex Gunn (1-2) was charged with the loss, giving up two runs in five innings pitched.
