SIOUX CITY, IA - The Sioux City Explorers snapped a four game losing streak with a much-needed 4-2 victory over the St. Paul Saints on Monday night.
St. Paul recorded the first run of the contest with a solo-shot in the second inning. Anthony Gallas (HR-8) led-off the top of the second with a homer to give the Saints the early lead.
The Explorers answered with three runs of their own in the bottom half. With the bases-loaded and one out, Bubby Rossman cleared the bases with an RBI double.
X’s added another in the seventh. LeVon Washington knocked in a run with an RBI single, extending the lead to 4-1.
The Saints cut the lead (4-2) with their second run. In the eighth inning, St. Paul left-fielder Anthony Gallas ripped an RBI single to score the runner at second base.
Sioux City’s closer PJ Fransescon (s-10) clinched the victory for the Explorers, pitching a scoreless ninth inning. Final Score: Explorers 4, Saints 2.
X’s starter Kramer Sneed (2-1) received the win for Sioux City, allowing only one run in seven innings while striking out six.
