Sioux City-----For the second consecutive night it was a one-run game, but Friday it was Fargo-Moorhead the winner over the Explorers 2-1 after Sioux City defeated the RedHawks on Thursday 3-2.
The RedHawks took a 1-0 lead in the second inning after Tim Alberts led off the inning with a double and later scored when Mitch Einertson grounded into a double play.
Fargo-Moorhead scored their second run in the fourth with one out when Alberts singled and scored on a ground ball out by Einertson that gave the RedHawks a 2-0 lead.
The Explorers scored their only run in the eighth inning when Alberto Espinosa singled with two outs and then scored on a single by Elieser Mesa.
In the ninth inning, the Explorers got a lead off single by Bryan Pounds (pictured), his third hit of the contest, but winning pitcher Taylor Stanton of the RedHawks retired the next three batters to pick up his fifth win of the year. In pitching his third complete game, Stanton struck out ten while Jason Jarvis pitched eight innings for the Explorers and took the loss.
The Explorers and Fargo-Moorhead will meet again Saturday at Lewis and Clark Park with game time 7:05. It will be Explorers baseball cap giveaway night as two Minnesota Vikings cheerleaders will be in attendance to sign autographs and available for pictures.
