ST. PAUL, MN - The Saints live to fight another day, getting the 3-1 victory over the Explorers and guaranteeing a game four to be played.
The Saints got on the board first with an Angelo Songco RBI single to center to score Alonzo Harris from third base, giving St. Paul the early 1-0 lead.
In the top half of the sixth, Sioux City answered with a Rene Tosoni solo-shot to tie it, but St. Paul matched the X’s tying run with two of their own. Angelo Songco once again came through for the Saints, lining an 0-1 pitch to left-field, scoring two and winding up at second base with the double.
In the ninth, inning Saints right-hander Ryan Rodebaugh (s-1) closed it out for St. Paul, going 1-2-3 and live to fight another day. Final score St. Paul 3, Explorers 1.
Explorers starter John Straka (0-1) was charged with the loss, allowing three runs on seven hits, one walk with five strikeouts in eight innings. St. Paul’s starting pitcher Dustin Crenshaw (1-0) received the win, going seven innings with one run allowed.
Sioux City’s first baseman Rene Tosoni had the hot-bat on the night, going 3 for 4 with a solo home run.
