Sioux City, IA - The Sioux City Explorers get the 11-4 victory in a rain-filled Monday night, with the game being called-off after the fifth inning at Mercy Field at Lewis and Clark Park.
Lincoln recorded the first run of the contest in the top of the second. Cesar Valera knocked in the first run with an RBI single, scoring the runner at third base.
The Explorers bats took fire in the bottom of the second, racking-up seven huge runs to take the lead. Sioux City scored two runs off RBI singles by Bryan Johns and Ralph Henriquez. Derrick Robinson cleared the bases with a three-run double. Michael Lang crossed-home on a wild pitch, and Nate Samson knocked in a run with a sacrifice-fly.
In the third inning, Lincoln cut the lead down a couple runs. Luis Allen smashed a two-run homer cutting the lead down to 7-3.
Sioux City answered with three runs of their own in the bottom of the third. The first run scored off an error by the centerfielder. X’s right-fielder Michael Lang smashed a two-run shot, extending their lead to 10-3.
Both teams managed to score one more run each, giving them the 11-4 final score in five innings. (Game called-off early due to rain)
