Sioux City, IA - The Sioux City Explorers get the 3-1 victory over the Lincoln Saltdogs putting them back in first place in the Central Division, alongside the Lincoln Saltdogs.
Sioux City recorded their first two runs in the bottom of the first inning. Derrick Robinson led-off with a single, moved to second on a passed ball, advanced to third with a stolen base, and scored on an RBI bunt single by Nate Samson. Samson later scored the second run off a base-hit single by Tim Colwell.
Lincoln cut the lead down to one with their first run in the second inning. Saltdogs third baseman Juan Martinez knocked in the runner at third with an RBI single, cutting the lead down to 2-1.
The Explorers scored the final run of the contest in the third inning. Nate Samson led-off the inning with a double, and later scored on an RBI double by Ralph Henriquez, extending the lead to the final score of 3-1.
Explorers starter Jake Kuebler (3-2) received the victory, going six solid innings with only one run allowed and three strikeouts. X’s closer Rob Wort (s-6) got the save, pitching a scoreless ninth inning.
Saltdogs starter Ryan O’Sullivan (4-5) was charged with the loss, giving up three runs in seven innings pitched, while striking out six batters on the night.
