EXPLORERS LOSING STREAK CONTINUES WITH LOSS TO TEXAS

SIOUX CITY, IA- The Sioux City Explorers woes continued, falling to the AirHogs with an 8-4 score on Wednesday night at Mercy Field at Lewis and Clark Park.

The Airhogs won the first game of their three-game series against the Explorers by winning 8-4 on Friday night. A three-run fifth inning propelled the Airhogs to a 6-4 lead, which they would not relinquish.

First, RF Denis Phipps hit a two-run home run, his fifth of the year and a third run was scored on a RBI single.

The Airhogs added two more runs in the seventh and eighth innings end route to an 8-4 win. Phipps was 2-5 with two runs scored and two RBIs in the win. SS Beamer Weems hit his fourth home run of the year in the win.

RHP Jared Mortensen went six innings allowing four runs (no earned) while striking out four batters. RHP Luis De La Cruz picked up the one-out save to earn his tenth save of the year.
