SIOUX CITY, IA- The Sioux City Explorers fought hard but went on to fall to the Goldeyes with a 7-5 score in extra-innings, at Mercy Field at Lewis and Clark Park.
Winnipeg was trailing 4-2 heading into the ninth inning but LF Josh Romanski singled to score SS Andrew Sohn, and in the next at-bat CF Reggie Abercrombie hit a two-run shot, his 12th of the year, to give the Goldeyes a 5-4 lead.
But in the bottom of the frame, 2B Joe Bennie reached on a walk and then scored on a wild pitch to tie the game and force extra innings.
In the 10th, DH David Bergin, who homered earlier in the game, drew a walk and scored when 2B Jordan Ebert reached on an error and 3B/C Mason Katz scored on a wild pitch later in the inning to take a two-run lead.
In the bottom of the 10th, reliever Victor Capellan sat the Explorers down in order to seal the win and earn his third save of the season.
