EXPLORERS FALL IN GAME ONE OF DOUBLEHEADER, GAME TWO ENDS EARLY FOR CURFEW RULE
Winnipeg 9, Sioux City 5 – Game 1/7 Innings
The Winnipeg Goldeyes took the first game of their twinbill with the Sioux City Explorers 9-5 thanks to a late-inning offensive explosion.
The Goldeyes were trailing 5-1 heading into the top of the sixth inning but quickly tied the game as RF David Rohm scored on a double from LF Josh Romanski, CF Reggie Abercrombie hit a two-run home run and DH David Bergin scored on a wild pitch. In the seventh, the Goldeyes added four more runs as 1B Shawn Pleffner provided the game winning runs with a grand slam.
The Explorers were held to just three hits in the game but one of those was a three-run home run from 1B Dre Gleason in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Winnipeg 5, Sioux City 2 – Game 2 Suspended/Curfew rule
The Winnipeg Goldeyes were leading the Sioux City Explorers 5-2 after five complete innings of play when the night cap of their doubleheader was suspended due to the curfew rule. The game will resume Wednesday at 6:05 p.m. and it will be played through seven innings with the regularly scheduled nine-inning game to follow.
