Wichita, KS-----Pitcher Jason Jarvis and outfielder Yusuke Inoguchi teamed up here Monday as the Explorers stopped Wichita's 11-game winning streak with a 5-1 win over the Wingnuts.  Jarvis pitched a complete game, scattering five hits and striking out seven to earn his first win of the year.  Inoguchi went five for five at the plate with a triple, double and three singles while scoring three runs and driving home another run.

The Explorers took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Inoguchi tripled and scored on a Wally Backman, Jr. single.  Wichita tied the game at 1-1 in the second inning, scoring an un-earned run off Jarvis.  The X's took a 2-1 lead in the third inning when Inoguchi doubled and scored on Backman's second hit of the contest.  The game remained a 2-1 lead for the Explorers until the eighth inning.  Sioux City scored three runs on four hits in the eighth inning to give Jarvis and the Explorers some insurance runs.  From the fifth inning until two out in the eighth, Jarvis retired ten Wichita batters in a row.

To cap off the complete game victory, Jarvis struck out two of the three batters he faced in the ninth and the righthander pitched on just three days rest.  The Explorers had 13 hits in the game with Inoguchi leading the way with five hits, Ray Serrano had two doubles, Tyler Goodro, Mike Murphy and Backman all had two hits each.  The second game of the four-game series with Wichita will be played Tuesday starting at 7:05 at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium in Wichita.
