Sioux City------The Explorers defeated Winnipeg 3-1 Friday to take the first two games of the series from the Goldeyes at Lewis and Clark Park.  The victory for the Explorers was their third straight, matching their longest winning streak of the season.  Also, the Explorers, now 15-14 are over the .500 for the first time since May 26th. 


Michael Lang (pictured) led the attack for Sioux City, going four for four with two RBI's, which raised his average to .392.  Brandon Newton also had two hits to extend his hitting streak to 11 games, the longest this season for the Explorers.  Alain Quijano pitched six innings to even his record at 2-2 and Chris Bodishbaugh was one of three releif pitchers for the X's and he recorded his seventh save of the year and his third save in as many nights.  The loss was the third straight for Winnipeg, their longest losing streak of the year.  The Explorers and Winnipeg will meet again Saturday at 7:05 at Lewis and Clark Park for the third game of the four-game series.
