El Paso, TX-----Fernando Valenzuela, Jr. singled home Reid Fronk in the tenth inning as El Paso defeated the Explorers here Saturday 7-6.  Fronk started the tenth inning with a double off losing hurler Chuck Lukanen (3-3). 


The Explorers had sent the game into extra inning on a two-out solo home run by Peter Barrows, his seventh home run of the season.  Barrows was almost a one-man offense for the Explorers as he finished the game with three hits and four RBI's.  After driving home five runs on Friday, Barrows has nine RBI's in the first two games.  The Explorers have lost four of five games on this current road trip and all four losses have been by one run.  El Paso took a 4-0 lead in the second inning and after that X's starter Ty Marotz did not allow a hit until Jeremy Acey connected on a solo home run in the sixth inning. 


The Explorers outhit El Paso 12-8 and along with Barrow's three hits, Brandon Newton, Wally Backman, Jr. and Jorge Delgado all had two hits.  Backman continues to swing the hot bat as his hitting strreak has now reached 11 games.  The final game of the three-game series with El Paso will begin at 7:05 at Cohen Stadium.  After an off day Monday, the Explorers will return to Lewis and Clark Park with a three-game series with Rockland of the Can-Am League on Tuesday.
