Sioux City-----The Explorers snapped a three-game losing streak here Tuesday by defeating Rockland of the Can-Am League 10-7.  It didn't start out that way as Rockland had two three-run home runs in the first two innings as they took an early 6-1 lead.  Gabby Martinez stroked a three-run home in the first and Keith Brachold had a three-run shot in the second inning.  It was Brachold's 26th home run of the season as he leads the Can-Am League in home runs and RBI's.

After trailing 6-1 in the second, the Explorers came back and scored four runs in the second inning to cut the lead to 6-5 as Brandon Newton had a bases loaded double.  The Explorers would tie the game in the fourth inning on a RBI single by Peter Barrows scoring Brandon Newton who had walked earlier in the inning.  In the fifth inning, Ray Serrano started the inning with a surprise bunt single, stole second and went to third on a throwing error by the Rockland catcher Billy Avino.  Serrano then scored on a sacrifice fly RBI by Youske Ingouchi that gave the Explorers the lead.  The X's added three insurance runs in the seventh inning on RBI singles by Mike Murphy, Wally Backman, Jr. and Barrows.  The Explorers had 14 hits as Backman extended his hitting streak to 13 games and Serrano extended his hitting streak to 10 games.  Richard Salazar pitched seven innings to even his record at 6-6.  The Explorers and Rockland will meet in the second game of the three-game series Wednesday at Lewis and Clark Park with game time set for 7:05.
