Sioux City, IA-On a humid and overcast night, the Explorers three-game win streak was halted with a 5-0 loss to Fargo-Moorhead Friday at Lewis & Clark Park.
Sioux City (23-31) has lost five straight home games, and is now 1-4 against the RedHawks this season. With the win, Fargo-Moorhead snapped a season-high six-game losing streak. The RedHawks opening salvo ended with three runs in the top of the first. Ronnie Bourquin led off the game with a walk. Back-to-back singles from Sawyer Carroll and Nic Jackson loaded the bases. Following a strikeout, an infield single by C.J. Retherford in the hole at short made it 1-0. The second run scored as newly acquired Brandon Tripp walked. A sacrifice fly to center off the bat of Petey Paramore drove home Jackson for a 3-0 lead.
Fargo-Moorhead (26-28) added single tallies in the third and seventh innings for the game’s final margin. RedHawks right-hander Curtis Camilli posted the win in just his second start of the season. Camilli (1-1) worked seven-and-two-thirds and gave up four hits (all singles) with six strikeouts and six walks. Wade Morrison took the loss for the Explorers. Morrison (0-4) lasted only two-and-a-third and allowed four earned runs on four hits with three strikeouts and four walks.
Sioux City managed just four hits on the night, and only had two base runners advance past second. Nic Jackson and Erik Castro each had two hits for the RedHawks. Jackson scored twice as well. Brandon Tripp, formerly with St. Paul, drove in two. Petey Paramore also collected two RBIs, both on sacrifice fly outs. Three of the five runs scored were on sacrifice flies.
