The Sioux City Explorers, won game one of their doubleheader vs Kansas City with a score of 1-0 at Lewis and Clark Park.
X’s plated the first run in the third inning. X’s lead-off man Matty Johnson singled, moved to second off a sacrifice, advanced to third with a stolen base and scored on a Bobby Doran wild pitch to take the lead 1-0 after three innings of play.
In the seventh, X’s reliever Rob Wort sent down the T-Bones 1-2-3 to close it out and clinch the win 1-0 for Sioux City. Explorers starter Eric Wordekemper (5-2) received the win going 5.1 innings with two hits allowed, one walk and four strikeouts. Kansas City’s right-hander Bobby Doran (8-4) was charged with the loss giving up an earned run in six innings pitched.
