XS FALL TO ST. PAUL ON RAIN FILLED WEDNESDAY07/27/2016 8:29 PM
St. Paul, MN- The Sioux City Explorers ended their three game series in St. Paul with a loss, falling to the Saints 1-0 at CHS Field The Explorers and Saints dealt with two rain delays on their Wednesday day game at CHS Field. The game was set to begin at 1:05 but wasn’t able to start until 3:03 due to the rain delay. The game was put on hold again at 3:39 and would not resume play until 5:06pm. The Saints scored the lone run of the contest in the seven inning. Aaron Gretz reached first on a fielder’s choice, and scored the winning run off an RBI double by Sam Maus, giving them the 1-0 lead. Saints starter John Straka (8-3) finished with a no decision, going three innings with no runs allowed. Left-hander Cory Williams (1-0) received the victory for St. Paul, pitching two scoreless innings. St. Paul’s closer Ryan Rodebaugh (s-17) got the save, pitching a scoreless ninth to clinch the victory. Explorers starter Graham Johnson (5-3) finished with a no decision, going two innings with no runs allowed. Right-hander PJ Francescon (0-3) was charged with the loss, allowing the winning run to score in the seventh inning.
