EXPLORERS TAKE SERIES BEHIND DAVIS’ RECORD‑SETTING NIGHT, 6–4
ROOKIE POE NOTCHES SECOND WIN

GARY, IN – Sioux City (43–46) closed out its road trip with a 6–4 win over Gary SouthShore (37–52) on Wednesday night on a record‑breaking night from Austin Davis.
Manager Steve Montgomery praised Davis’ impact, “He is a dynamic player and a game‑changer. He is a difference out there.”
Sioux City struck immediately in the first when Braulio Vásquez drove a solo homer the other way to right, giving the Explorers a 1–0 lead.
Gary SouthShore answered in the fourth.
Justin O’Conner lifted a sacrifice fly to right, scoring Colin Summerhill, and a throwing error charged to D’Shawn Knowles allowed Elvis Peralta to score as well, putting the RailCats ahead 2–1.
Knowles singled to center to bring home Vásquez and tie the game at 2–2 in the 6th. Moments later, Jackson Van De Brake delivered a two‑run homer to left, pushing Sioux City back in front 4–2.
The seventh inning belonged to Davis. After stealing third, he recorded his 72nd stolen base of the season, setting a new American Association single-season record. He then scored on Vásquez’s sacrifice fly to make it 5–2. Henry George followed by scoring on a wild pitch, extending the lead to 6–2.
Gary SouthShore made a push in the eighth. Marc Flores singled home Kevin Watson Jr., and Peralta doubled to left to score Flores, trimming the deficit to 6–4. But Sioux City held firm from there.
Rookie Hunter Poe (2-0) picked up his second win in his second start going five innings for Sioux City. The right-hander gave up three hits, two walks and five strikeouts while yielding two runs, only one of which was earned.
The Explorers now return home for their final regular‑season homestand, opening a series against Kane County on Friday at 6:35 p.m., with pregame coverage beginning at 6:05 p.m. on KSCJ 94.9 FM and 1360 AM.
