Dan Vaughan returns for his second season as the broadcaster for Sioux City Explorers and his 12th season broadcasting in the American Association in 2024. Prior to coming to the Siouxland, Vaughan spent four years with the Gary SouthShore RailCats from 2013 -2016 and six seasons in Kansas City as the “voice of the Monarchs and T-Bones” from 2017-2022. On June 17, 2023 Vaughan called his 900th American Association game as the Explorers took on the Lincoln Saltdogs in Lincoln. Heading into 2024 he currently is the active leader in games called in the American Association. In the Australian summer he is one of the voices of the Perth Heat of the Australian Baseball League during the USA winters and co-host of Talking Baseball Australia. Vaughan has jumped headfirst into the exciting history of baseball in Sioux City and in the state of Iowa. A broadcast staple of his is the nightly feature of the Sioux City Baseball Flashback. Vaughan will look at a player or team from the long history of the great game on the area and tell that story. He can also be seen Monday through Friday on game days on “Explorers Expresso” on Facebook and YouTube Live. The show is a look back at the game before and a preview of that night’s game. The X’s will also unveil a booth camera this season for a behind the scenes look at the broadcast as it happens. Vaughan is active locally with the Ronald McDonald Charities of the Siouxland raising money for the organization through the X’s stolen bases during the regular season. The Explorers can be heard on radio locally at KSCJ 94.9 FM and 1360 AM and online with the pregame beginning 30 minutes before first pitch. All Explorers games home and away will be streamed the league broadcast site www.aabaseball.tv. The site features live games and bonus content on the American Association. Explorers’ fans will be able to hear the X’s radio audio call of the road games on the league streaming site.
