Internships

The Sioux City Explorers a member of the American Association of Indpendent Professional Baseball, is seeking highly motivated individuals looking to kick start their career in sports.

We are looking for individuals who are excited to enter the world of professional sports and are ready to bring new fresh ideas to our organization. People who are willing to give us a large portion of their summer to gain valuable experience that you won’t find anywhere else.

Here are the positions that we are looking to fill.

Promotions Internship

As a promotions intern we’re asking a lot from you. Perhaps not so much in the manual labor aspect of things but we need you to bring ENERGY and lots of it. We are looking for the type of person who could have fun in a English Lit 101 class. A person where a smile is usually firmly planted on their face. A person who isn’t afraid of a large crowd, but rather relishes it. Where all it takes is one beat, one note and you are showing off your dance moves (Don’t worry they don’t have to be good) to a large number of people. If you are consistently the life of the party then what are you waiting for and get in on this.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Assist with special promotions, theme nights, player-fan interactive events
  • Coordinate the scheduling of pre-game events and in-between inning activities
  • Prepare props for game execution

  • Occasionally represent the Explorers at community events as Slider, the Explorers mascot
  • Assist with all events during each game
  • Assist with non-baseball events throughout the season
  • Other duties as assigned

Box Office Internship

This position comes with the realization that you are the first person that our fans interact with when they get to the ballpark that day. Your attitude and customer service should rival that of the person at the Chick Fil-a drive thru. You are one of the people responsible for everything tickets from the basic office duties that comes with that, to helping with large groups, to suggesting and implementing different ticketing ideas and promotions. And again, you are the first happy face every fan will interact with, you are the first impression of the Sioux City Explorers.

Stadium Operations/Groundscrew Internship

The first two ideas not your speed? Don’t want to dance in front of crowds? Customer service not exactly your thing? Then this is the position for you. Hours of silence and solitude with no one to talk to or deal with except blades of grass and dirt. Here is what you get from our groundscrew internship, a sweet tan, your recommended 10,000 steps a day, and valuable experience on how to keep a baseball field in prestine condition. There are more groundscrew jobs out there than you realize and even if you never graduate into that career path, someday your lawn will be the talk of the neighborhood thanks to the lessons learned from the summer of ’21. Manual labor is expected sure, but did I mention you get a sweet tan?
