Cyler Melvin

Cyler Melvin is the bench coach for the Sioux City Explorers this season and is currently a graduate assistant for Briar Cliff University’s baseball team. A Sioux Falls native, Melvin attended Washington High School where he earned seven varsity letters (four for bowling, three for baseball). He was a bowling state champion in his junior year.

After high school, Melvin attended Iowa Western Community College where he played the outfield and won a junior college national championship in 2020.

After two years at Iowa Western, Melvin transferred to Briar Cliff University here in Sioux City where he played the outfield and returned to pitching. In his final season in 2025, he appeared in eight games on the mound and 46 as a position player. I’m 2025, he hit .318 with 12 doubles, three home runs, 27 RBI, and a .378 OBP.
