Right-hander Cody Tucker joins the Explorers pitching staff in 2026 after spending parts of three seasons with the San Francisco Giants and Houston Astros organizations. In 2025 Tucker began the season at class-A Eugene in the Northwest League. He appeared in five games and made one start, working a total of 6.1 innings. Tucker went 1-0, surrendering 10 earned runs on 10 hits with eight strikeouts and eight walks. The righty had an ERA of 13.50 in a short stay in the Norwest League. The Giants would release him on April 29, but Tucker would sign with the Houston Astros on May 5 and was assigned to Asheville in the South Atlantic League.

Tucker worked exclusively in relief for the Tourist, appearing in 23 games and notching two saves. He would throw 33.1 innings, punching out 32 and allowing 23 free passes while giving up 15 earned runs on 37 hits. Tucker would finish with a 1.800 WHIP and was third on the team in appearances by a reliever.

In 2024 the Arizona native split time between two A-level clubs for the Giants. Tucker began the season at San Jose in the California League, going 2-0 in 12 games over 26 innings with a 2.42 ERA. He added 34 strikeouts with just 12 walks and allowed 13 hits to translate to a 0.962 WHIP during his first stop of the season. Tucker yielded just seven earned runs while picking up two saves. Tucker earned a promotion to high-A Eugene on June 11 where he would go on to pitch in 23 games in relief. He finished the year 3-2 with a 6.28 ERA in 38.2 innings for the Emeralds. Tucker fanned 48 while issuing 17 walks and allowing 27 earned runs on 48 hits with a 1.474 WHIP.

Tucker would join the San Francisco Giants organization on July 17, 2023, as a minor league free-agent signing after his final collegiate season at Grand Canyon University. He would combine to go 1-0 in five games at two stops with a 1.29 ERA between the rookie-level Arizona Complex League and San Jose of the California League. Tucker finished his first professional season with 10 strikeouts in seven inning, giving up just one earned run on four hits.

The right-hander spent his first two college seasons at Mesa Community College, followed by two more at California State University – Bakersfield and then his final season at Grand Canyon. In 2023, Tucker threw 25.2 innings appearing in 16 games in his only season at Grand Canyon. He went 1-2 with a 6.66 ERA with 26 strikeouts. Tucker picked up one save while making one start and 15 appearances in relief for GCU. Tucker would allow 19 earned runs on 33 hits while issuing 12 walks and posting a 1.753 WHIP.

In 2022 Tucker led California State – Bakersfield with 22 games with all but one coming in relief. He was 1-5 with a 5.49 ERA over 39.1 innings with 39 strikeouts. Tucker would allow 24 earned runs on 37 hits while walking 21 batters. He would notch two saves for the Roadrunners in 2022.

Tucker would tie for the team lead in games pitched with 13 and made two starts for CSU-Bakersfield in 2021. He finished with a 6.30 ERA in 40 innings for the season with 30 strikeouts and 19 walks. Tucker gave up 28 earned runs on 48 hits to put up a 1.675 WHIP. In 2019 and 2020, Tucker threw a combined 97.2 innings with 93 strikeouts and a 3.23 ERA at Mesa. He is a native of Mesa, Arizona and attended Mesa High School where he played all four seasons in high school.
