J.D. Rogers arrives in Sioux City after appearing in 27 games, including 19 starts, during his redshirt senior season at the University of Central Florida.
He slashed .254/.416/.559 with 15 runs, 23 RBIs, three doubles and five home runs, while adding 16 walks and three stolen bases. Rogers recorded five multi-hit games and four multi-RBI performances, along with two multi-home run outings. He homered twice against Cincinnati on April 19 and twice at Utah on April 24.
That Utah game marked the best performance of his collegiate career. Rogers went 4-for-4 with two home runs, a double, two runs scored and seven RBIs. He also homered five times over a four-game stretch from April 18–24.Before arriving in Orlando, Rogers spent three seasons at Vanderbilt. As a redshirt junior in 2025, he appeared in 19 games. In 2024, he made 16 appearances with five starts, recording his first collegiate home run and first career start at Georgia on May 5. As a redshirt freshman in 2023, he went 2-for-6 with three runs scored over 11 appearances, including an RBI single to close out a run-rule victory over Lipscomb. He redshirted his initial season in 2022.
Rogers attended Carmel High School, where he was ranked the No. 3 overall prospect in Indiana and the state’s top outfielder by Perfect Game, as well as the No. 30 outfield prospect nationally. A 2021 Perfect Game Preseason All-American, he hit .400 as a senior with six doubles, four triples, five home runs and 20 stolen bases. He earned all-county and all-conference honors while helping Carmel capture the 2019 state championship.
His father, Scott, played football and baseball at Notre Dame, while his brother, Sam, played football at Samford.
