SIOUX CITY COMES ALIVE LATE TO BEAT WINNIPEG
EXPLORERS TAKE TWO OF THREE FROM GOLDEYES

SIOUX CITY, IOWA – Sioux City (41–45) rallied late on Sunday afternoon, scoring three runs in the seventh to knock off Winnipeg (46–39) by a 4–2 final and secure the series in the rubber match.
Manager Steve Montgomery liked what he saw, “This kind of looks like old‑fashioned Sioux City baseball. We just gotta find a way to keep getting good starts and the bullpen handling business.”
The Explorers struck first in the third. Henry George doubled home Austin Davis, who had reached scoring position after forcing a throwing error on a failed pickoff attempt, giving Sioux City a 1–0 lead.
Winnipeg answered in the fourth when Adam Hall lifted a solo homer for just his fifth of the season to tie the game. The Goldeyes took their first lead in the sixth on an RBI single from Noah Marcelo, making it 2–1.
For Sioux City, Jarod Wright delivered one of his best outings in weeks.
He worked 5.2 innings, allowing just four hits and two runs. It was a sharp turnaround after giving up 28 earned runs across his previous four August starts.
Winnipeg’s Landen Bourassa matched him, allowing only one run with six strikeouts in his third start since returning from the Mexican League.
The game swung in the seventh. Sioux City loaded the bases with nobody out, and Zac Vooletich tied it with a sacrifice fly to right. Braulio Vásquez followed with another sac fly to put the Explorers back in front, and Alberto Osuna added an RBI single to score George, pushing the lead to 4–2.
From there, the bullpen took over. Kelvin Caceres handled the eighth, and Trey Morrill worked a clean ninth to lock down the win and the series.
Sioux City begins a three‑game series at Gary SouthShore on Tuesday at 6:45 p.m., with pregame coverage beginning at 6:15 p.m. on KSCJ 94.9 FM and 1360 AM. -Henry George reached base for the 26th straight game.
-Sioux City is 11-10 in August.
-Alberto Osuna is 21-for-44 in his last 11 games and an 11 game hitting streak. (.477) He has six of the 11 games with at least two hits.
-Henry George swiped his 40th base. It is his second straight 40 stolen base season after stealing 43 last season.
-The X’s finished 8-4 against Winnipeg this season winning all four series.
-Trey Morrill reached 10 saves and has and a new personal career high.
