FARGO, ND – Sioux City (30–36) dropped a 10–7 decision to Fargo‑Moorhead (35–31) on Saturday night to open the final full month of the regular season.

The Explorers struck first in the second. In his Sioux City debut, Yorman Rodriguez lifted a sacrifice fly to center, scoring Braulio Vásquez for a 1–0 lead.

Dillon Thomas doubled to begin the inning, advanced to third on a balk, and scored on a passed ball to tie it 1–1. Moments later, Tucupita Marcano tripled to center, driving in José Sermo and Matt Kroon for a 3–1 RedHawks lead. Brian Fuentes followed with an RBI single to score Marcano, stretching it to 4–1.

Sioux City threatened in the sixth with runners at second and third but came up empty.

With the bases loaded, Fuentes crushed a grand slam to left to make it 8–1. It was just the second grand slam allowed by the Explorers this season, both coming against Fargo‑Moorhead.

RedHawks starter Patrick Wicklander was sharp, allowing only one run on four hits over six innings. It was a stark contrast to his July 8 outing in Sioux City, when he surrendered nine hits and six earned runs.

Fargo added another in the seventh on a two‑out RBI single from Tripp Clark, pushing the lead to 9–1.

In the eighth, Vásquez launched a three‑run homer to right to cut it to 9–4. Fargo answered with a Michael Snyder sacrifice fly in the bottom half to make it 10–4.
