SIOUX CITY’S NINTH‑INNING RALLY NOT ENOUGH IN 8–7 LOSS
LATE GAME BREAKS GO REDHAWKS WAY
By: Andrew Della Piana
FARGO, ND – Sioux City (30–37) fell 8–7 in ten innings to Fargo‑Moorhead (36–31) on Sunday afternoon, dropping the series finale in a back‑and‑forth game.
Fargo‑Moorhead jumped ahead immediately, stringing together four singles in the first inning to take a 2–0 lead on RBIs from José Sermo and Matt Kroon. Sioux City answered in the second when Yorman Rodriguez blooped a single to center, scoring D’Shawn Knowles to make it 2–1.

The RedHawks added another in the second on a two‑out pop‑up single from Jesus Lujano, then stretched the lead to 4–1 in the third when Tucupita Marcano doubled home Kroon.
Sioux City chipped away in the fifth.
With two outs, Henry George ripped a ground‑rule double to score Austin Davis, and Braulio Vásquez followed with an RBI double to left to pull the X’s within 4–3. Fargo answered immediately in the bottom half with a Dillon Thomas solo homer to push the lead to 5–3.

Lujano added another RBI in the sixth to make it 6–3, but Sioux City rallied again in the seventh. George singled home Davis, then Zac Vooletich scored on a wild pitch to cut it to 6–5. The Explorers had runners at second and third with nobody out but couldn’t bring home the tying run, leaving the bases loaded.

Fargo-Moorhead regained breathing room in the bottom of the inning when Brian Fuentes homered again after a grand slam the night before, extending the lead to 7–5.
Sioux City refused to go away.

In the ninth, Alberto Osuna reached on an error by Marcano, allowing Vásquez to score. Brodie Kresser pinch‑ran and came home on a Jackson Van De Brake single to left, tying the game 7–7 and forcing extras.
In the tenth, Fargo-Moorhead executed perfectly. With Brian Fuentes at third, Aidan Byrne dropped down a sacrifice squeeze, scoring the winning run and giving the RedHawks an 8–7 walk‑off victory.
