SMITH SHUTSDOWN X’S IN SERIES OPENER
Myles Smith Tosses Complete Game Shutout

Sioux City, IA (May 31st, 2022) – Myles Smith tossed a complete game shutout to down the Sioux City Explorers as the Milwaukee Milkmen took game one 9-0.
The Milwaukee Milkmen got their offense started early as they scored their first run in the 2nd with two outs. Dylan Kelly singled, advanced on a wild pitch and scored off a throwing error.
In the third the Milkmen broke the game wide open by scoring six runs and bringing 11 batters to the plate.
Milwaukee started off the third with a walk by Bryan Torres. He stole second and a throwing error on the play pushed him to third base where he scored on a sac fly from Chad Sedio to make it 2-0. Milwaukee quickly doubled that lead with back to back solo homers from Mason Davis and Keon Barnum. Torres who led off the inning with the walk, singled with the bases loaded to score two and finish off the rally making it 7-0.
Zach Hedges (0-2) took the loss. He lasted two and one third innings giving up six runs with only three earned. He gave up four hits with three walks and two strikeouts.
Blaine Hardy came in to pitch after Hedges, and delivered four and two-thirds. The Milkmen plated a run in the fourth off a fourth error of the game for Sioux City. And one In the fifth, on a solo shot by Will Kengor.
For Milwaukee, Myles Smith (2-1) earned the win tossing a complete game shutout. Smith only surrendered four hits. He struck out 10 and gave up just one walk.
The Explorers and Milkmen will be back in action at 7:05 p.m. on Wednesday. Starting for the Explorers will be righty Kevin McCanna (2-1, 6-00) and for the Milkmen right hander Ryan Zimmerman (0-0, 4.80).
