Travis Lee is in his 1st season as the Vice President and General Manager of the Sioux City Explorers. He brings extensive sales and marketing experience to the X’s, with a professional background in sports media and business marketing. He is no stranger to Siouxland, having spent the past year with AMP Sales & Marketing Solutions, known locally as CBS/FOX Siouxland. Prior to that, he served as the Assistant General Manager and Director of Sales for the Sioux City Convention Center from April 2024 to October 2025. Earlier in his career, he spent 13 years as the General Manager of Coyote Sports Properties (Learfield) at the University of South Dakota and three additional years as the Director of Athletic Marketing and Promotions for the USD Athletics Department.
Before his time in Vermillion, Lee worked with Merck and Company as a Professional Representative in Waco, Texas, while also serving as an Adjunct Marketing Instructor at Texas A&M–Central Texas. He previously held the role of President and General Manager of the Central Texas Blackhawks Hockey Club of the NAHL and worked as the Marketing and Merchandise Manager for the Sioux Falls Stampede of the USHL, where he also taught marketing at University Center and Southeast Technical College. Travis began his career in sports with KSFS Sports Radio in Sioux Falls and as General Manager of the Sioux Falls Canaries. He graduated from Dakota State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration and later earned a Master of Arts in Business from the University of Nebraska. A native of Viborg, South Dakota, Lee now lives in Dakota Dunes and is the father of Reagan, a Briar Cliff University softball player, and Sawyer, a freshman athlete at Vermillion High School.
In his free time, he enjoys attending his kids’ sporting events, playing disc golf, and playing old man baseball.
