As the sun finally shone above Lewis And Clark Park, the Sioux City Explorers and Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks finally kicked off their spring training slates following two days of rain. The X’s highly-anticipated new look roster performed as hoped, defeating the Association’s 2022 defending champions 7-2. Strong Pitching was the name of the game for Sioux City, as Mitchell Verburg and Francys Peguero both dazzled in scoreless appearences for the X’s.

The Sioux City offense showed up as well, as a pair of RBI triples from Jack Kelly and Miguel Sierra and a solo home run from Jake Ortega lead the offensive charge- which was aided by 7 walks from Fargo-Moorhead’s pitching staff.  Newcomers like Jake Sanford (2-4) and Daniel Perez (two walks) also stood out strongly, as The Explorers look to build off this performance later tonight in Yankton, SD, as they face off against the Sioux Falls Canaries.
