Amaral’s Three-Run Home Run Provides Early Fireworks

Sioux City, Iowa (July 1st, 2022) — Sioux City Explorers opened up the four game series against the Winnipeg Goldeyes in exciting fashion with a walk off three-run home run in the eleventh winning 5-3.

The Winnipeg Goldeyes tied the game up in the top of the third on a Logan Hill solo home run.

The Explorer’s took back the lead in the bottom of the third inning on an RBI groundout from Nate Samson. The groundout brought in Trey Martin, who reached on a three base error as the X’s went ahead 2-1.

From there both starting pitchers got into a groove. Explorers starter Kevin McCanna started this game and took the no decision. He threw six and two-thirds innings, collecting four strikeouts, and allowing five hits, two runs, and two walks.
