Bio
Nathan Rose joins the Sioux City Explorers as a 24-year-old infielder entering his second season of professional baseball. The Ohio native began his pro career in 2025 with the Seattle Mariners organization, spending the summer in the Arizona Complex League after signing a minor league deal in January.
Rose appeared in 36 games with the ACL Mariners, where he hit .245 with a .371 on-base percentage and a .445 slugging percentage. He collected 27 hits in 110 at-bats, including five home runs, six doubles, and 18 RBI. While his rookie campaign had its ups and downs, Rose flashed some raw power and plate discipline that the Explorers hope to tap into in his first taste of independent ball.
Prior to turning pro, Rose played four seasons of NCAA Division I baseball between Bowling Green State and Tulane. He enjoyed his most productive years at Bowling Green, where he was a three-time Academic All-MAC selection and earned First Team All-MAC honors as a freshman in 2021. Over 126 games with the Falcons, he posted a .279 batting average with 11 home runs, 97 RBI, and 26 doubles. In 2023, he led the team with 41 RBI and tied for the program lead in doubles with 17.
In 2024, Rose transferred to Tulane as a graduate student and appeared in 31 games, starting in 20. He hit .216 with six doubles, two home runs, and eight RBI while maintaining a strong .376 on-base percentage. He helped the Green Wave reach the NCAA Regionals and continued to showcase his ability to get on base, even in a more limited role.
A right-handed hitter and thrower, Rose brings defensive versatility with experience across the infield, including shortstop, second base, and third. He’s known for his steady glove, high baseball IQ, and selective approach at the plate.
Originally from Shaker Heights, Ohio, Rose starred at Shaker Heights High School before continuing his career at the collegiate and now professional level. With the Explorers, he’ll look to find his footing and carve out a bigger role as he adjusts to the pace and competition of the American Association.
