Bio

RHP Nick McClanahan joins the Explorers as a true rookie after playing his final collegiate season with the Northern Kentucky Norse earlier this year. He played one season at Northern Kentucky after playing in 2023 with Cincinnati, where he transferred after four years with Franklin.

In 2024, McClanahan appeared in 30 games out of the bullpen, recording four saves while striking out 71 batters across 52.1 innings. During the year, he had a few elite outings, including 3.2 innings of one-run ball against Tennessee in the Knoxville Regional while striking out seven and picking up a 9-out save against Mizzou with six strikeouts.

With Cincinnati in 2023, the right-hander pitched in 15 games, striking out 16 in 16 innings in his one and only season with the Bearcats. 2022 was his final season with Franklin, starting all 12 of his appearances and going 6-0 while posting a 2.93 ERA across 70.2 innings. His season included a 15-strikeout game against Mt. St. Joseph on April 23, and he pitched a season-high eight innings against Anderson on May 12.

2021 was McClanahan’s third season with Franklin, and in it he started 10 games, going 55.1 innings with a 6-1 record and striking out 65. That season came off the heels of the COVID-shortened season in 2020 where he appeared in only four games, pitching 4.2 innings and striking out five. McClanahan had his first collegiate season in 2019, pitching in just one game and having a scoreless frame in a win over Mt. St. Joseph April 28.

McClanahan is the son of Vickie and Larry McClanahan, and he has two siblings, Kasey and Taylor. He hails from Union, Ky. He attended Ryle High School prior to college.
