Zac Addkison joins the Explorers after spending the last two seasons with the San Diego Padres organization. In 2024 the Texas native went 2-1 in 15 games with two starts with the rookie-level Arizona Complex League Padres. He pitched in 25 innings with 27 strikeouts, issuing eight walks and giving up 15 earned runs on 26 hits. Addkison finished with a 5.40 ERA with a 1.360 WHIP before moving on to A-level Lake Elsinore in the California League in August. The righty then worked in five games out of the pen, totaling 7.1 innings with a 1.23 ERA. He would strike out nine while giving up one earned run on seven hits in his five games out of the Lake Elsinore pen. Addkison finished the year 2-1 with a 4.45 ERA and a 1.454 WHIP combined at both stops.
In 2023 Addkison pitched in one game for the Arizona Complex League Padres, tossing one inning while giving up one hit and no earned runs. The Padres selected Addkison in the 15th round of the 2023 Major League Draft out of Marshall University after a three-year college career. He would pitch in 37 games making 33 starts over his three seasons in Huntington, finishing 4-13 with a 5.29 ERA and a 1.550 WHIP.
Addkison finished with the lowest ERA (4.60) in 2022 for the Thundering Herd while making 15 starts, covering 72.1 innings and posting a 3-8 record. He finished third on the team with 72 strikeouts while issuing 44 walks and yielding 37 earned runs on 62 hits with a 1.465 WHIP. Addkison would hold opposition batters to a .231 batting average over the season.
In his sophomore season of 2022, Addkison appeared in 14 games while making 10 starts on the hill for Marshall. He went 1-3 with a 5.97 ERA with 70 strikeouts in 63.1 innings, walking 28 batters on the season. Addkison surrendered 42 earned runs on 72 hits with a 1.579 WHIP.
Addkison made his collegiate debut in 2021, making eight starts for Marshall. He went 3-2 in 24.1 innings with a 5.55 ERA adding 16 strikeouts. Addkison struck out six batters in his debut at Marshall against Morehead State on March 7 and would finish with a 1.726 WHIP with 15 earned runs on 21 hits while issuing 21 free passes.
Addkisonattended and played baseball at TMI Episcopal in San Antonio, Texas. In three years, he went 17-0 with a 1.11 ERA pitching in 97.1 innings, giving up just 38 hits, walking 46 batters, striking out 197 in his high school career. Addkison was a two-time first-team all-district, was named first-team all-state, voted a top-10 private school player in Texas and was named to the 2020 Rawlings/Perfect Game All-American and all-region team.
